The Greek getaway steeped in sustainability will soon bring two new eco-resorts to its exclusive development in Messinia in south-west Peloponnese. Set to open in 2021, these beachfront resorts at Costa Navarino will take sustainable luxury to new heights.

Renowned for its coastal location, unspoilt landscape, cultural heritage, luxurious accommodation and exclusive real estate, Costa Navarino is a one-of-a-kind destination comprised of several distinct sites in Greece’s beautiful Messinia region. The development already boasts a handful of hotels, golf courses, private residences and other facilities.

Both of the new Costa Navarino resorts will be located ten kilometres south of the development’s first resort site, Navarino Dunes, fulfilling the next step in Temes S.A.‘s original plan to construct a year-round luxury and sustainable destination. The hotels are expected to be complete in 2021.

In addition to the new accommodation offerings, development is also underway for two new golf courses. Situated five kilometres inland, these impressive courses will be designed by two-time Masters champion and Ryder Cup legend, José Mariá Olazábal. The two new 18-hole courses will be set high above the coastline, stretching over 150 hectares of scrubland typical of the region.

Navarino Bay Hotel

The hotel at Navarino Bay will be an elegant 5-star establishment with 99 suites and all-pool villas set on two kilometres of pristine waterfront. Earmarked to be the destination’s most sumptuous hotel, the building will be designed by two of Greece’s most prominent and successful architectural practices, Tombazis & Associates Architects and K-Studio. Tombazis & Associates Architects were the minds behind the Navarino Dunes resort, and both firms have worked on private Costa Navarino residences.

The hotel will blend seamlessly with its surroundings, and will be perched on an outcrop with views across the ancient town of Pylos and the Bay of Navarino. The main building will be home to 39 rooms, a variety of relaxation spaces, a destination spa, restaurant, pool and exclusive beach club. Nestled into a curved hillside beneath the main building, the remaining 12 rooms and 48 villas will boast an earth-sheltered design with planted roofs and their own private gardens and pools.

The property will be peppered with Mediterranean-style landscaping, featuring a verdant blend of olive and cypress trees as well as lavender and thyme bushes. The interiors will be minimalist, with natural materials such as stone and wood in play. Expansive aluminium-framed windows will allow panoramic views of the landscape. A relaxed palette of natural hues will color the interior, which will be paired with delicate furnishings and thoughtful details.

The design will follow the land’s organic topography and will showcase local materials to draw attention to the region’s natural beauty. The details and full inspiration behind the hotel at Navarino Bay can be found here. Watch a video on the project here.

Navarino Waterfront Hotel

The hotel at Navarino Waterfront will also be designed by Tombazis & Associates Architects, who are big advocates of contemporary bioclimatic design. This waterfront hotel will have 174 rooms and suites along with 26 bungalows, and its style will be a modern take on a traditional port town.

Drawing architectural inspiration from the region’s most archetypal buildings, such as stone built towers, sloping stone walls and wooden structures, the hotel will honor these elements through a contemporary interpretation. Clean lines and modern accents will characterize its design.

Appealing to those in search of a more upbeat vacation, the new development will  also feature a lively waterfront Agora with shops, restaurants, an open-air cinema, lagoon pools and a boho-chic beach club.
