Shangri-La Group announced the grand opening of Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu, marking the Group’s return to the historical water town since its establishment in Suzhou more than 10 years ago. As the newest international luxury-branded hotel in the central business district of the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), the hotel embraces cultural heritage while offering the vibrancy of a modern city. Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu fuses modern elegance with rich local traditions. Ancient gardens integrate with contemporary elements while the local culture is brought to life by Shangri-La. Guests will immediately feel refreshed and quickly at ease.

Suzhou is one of the fastest growing cities in China given its rapid urbanisation, improved infrastructure development and strong economic growth. The city has many unique virtues - it is one of the major cities in Jiangsu province at Yangtze River Delta, a top travel destination with strong cultural and historical importance. The city has grown to be one of China’s innovation hubs and an economic powerhouse. In 2018, Suzhou’s GDP exceed RMB 1.8 trillion, reaching a growth rate 7.38%.

As part of the G Plaza, the 32-storey Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu is now the latest on Jinji Lake’s skyline. The hotel is within walking distance of the lake’s scenic area, Suzhou International Expo Centre and to the Suzhou Culture and Arts Centre. It is also conveniently located near the city’s subway station, offering easy access to local attractions. The nearby high-speed train station and expressway allow quick connections to Shanghai Pudong International Airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Sunan Shuofang International Airport.

“Leveraging on Shangri-La’s strong brand reputation, we aim to create a sense of cultural appreciation for our guests through state-of-the-art facilities and by offering experiences that respect traditional culture with a fresh perspective. We are confident that we can attract a wide range of loyal and long-term customers,” said Dexter Cheng, General Manager of Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu.

Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu features 303 spacious guestrooms and suites, as well as 16 serviced residences with views of Jinji Lake and the city landscape. A movable wall in the open-style bathroom transforms the room into a private sanctuary or an open space, accentuating its design. Suites start at 96 square metres and are equipped with a full range of luxury touches, including the Shangri-La fragrance and upscale skincare products. Guests staying in suites or on dedicated Horizon floors also enjoy the personalised services of the Horizon Club Lounge where breakfast, refreshments and cocktails are served daily.

Gourmet enthusiasts will be delighted by two distinct culinary offerings, including Shang Garden, the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, which celebrates local culinary classics in a setting that boldly blends patterned silk panels with Chinese art. Café Hong, the all-day-dining restaurant, presents an international cuisine with a live-cooking theatre, as well as private dining rooms ideal for business entertainment or intimate family gatherings.

Guests looking for casual refreshments may enjoy the Sip Lounge, with its six-metre-high ceiling, crystal chandelier and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the garden. The lounge offers a large selection of teas and beverages in the afternoons before the lively sound of the house band entertains guests at night.

Shangri-La Hotel, Suzhou Yuanqu contributes to the city’s total event space, with two pillar-free ballrooms of 1,000 and 384 square metres respectively. Blending classical elegance with oriental touches, the ballrooms, along with the seven multifunction spaces, are ideal for weddings and prestigious events, while Kun Opera themed coffee breaks allow guests to engage with classical local opera performances in the garden.

The Health Club and Spa provides a 24-hour gym, where guests can work out against a panoramic view, or swim in the 25-metre indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool. Advanced facilities include a space for kinetic exercises, a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam bath, as well as the Shangri-La Spa, offering guests a wide range of treatments and massage therapies guaranteed to rejuvenate and inspire.

To commemorate the opening, an introductory offer including two daily breakfast buffets, a 25% discount on flexible rate, late 2pm checkout and one RMB200 Spa credit voucher is available until 31 March 2020. A minimum two-night consecutive stay is required.
