A new, deluxe, all-inclusive resort is joining the ranks of the island-escape elite. Located on one of the largest private islands in the Maldives, the Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA will open its doors on 4 December 2019, inviting guests to sit back, relax, and soak up the serene beauty of the surrounds.

Taking a new spin on the all-inclusive concept, Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA is offering the best in luxury hospitality along with spectacular views and superb service. Boasting 1.5km of private beach and a wraparound reef, a rarity for private islands, the location ensures that guests are never more than a few footsteps away from an encounter with exotic fish, turtles or manta rays.

The 120-villa resort is located on the Raa Atoll, renowned for having some of the most diverse marine life in the world and is home to one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives. The resort’s villas fall into 11 separate categories, with 60 beach villas and 60 overwater villas on offer. Expansive rooms, private pools and jacuzzis, flat satellite TVs, walk-in and outdoor “under the stars” showers, spacious dressing rooms, walk-in closets and room-controlled air conditioning are some of the accommodation highlights.

Natural elegance perfectly sums up the resort’s aesthetic, which was designed by architect Edward David Poole. Each villa features contemporary and tropical accents, creating interiors which are modern and unique. Poole’s striking design includes colour-blocked bedrooms dotted with exotic marine life artworks, while the spacious bathrooms sparkle with white marble finishes and lavish silver mirrors. From the outside, the villas blend harmoniously with the backdrop of the tranquil tropical island.

All guests stay on a deluxe, all-inclusive basis, allowing them to enter relax-mode from the moment they arrive at Emerald Maldives. Guests can dine at any of the resort’s four restaurants as often as is desired, as well as can help themselves at will to the villa mini bar, which is restocked daily. Premium spirits and all non-motorised water sports can also be enjoyed at no additional cost.

“With Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA, we wanted to create a sanctuary for guests who wish to escape the pressures and stress of modern day life. For couples, the new resort offers intimacy and an oasis of calm and connection, while for families, the island is a fun-filled haven and the perfect recipe for long lasting memories,” comments Simone Scarapicchia, Partner and Director of Sales & Marketing for Emerald Maldives Resort & SPA.

The dining options are as indulgent as the accommodation, with the resort offering cuisine from every continent. Each of the four fantastic restaurants have their select own menu, style, theme and ambiance. In addition to the restaurants, a Sunset Pool Café and Sunrise Café will offer small bites and refreshments throughout the day. Amazonico, the region’s first South American Restaurant, will be a surefire hit, serving dishes like ceviche with passion fruit dressing as well as meats and fish cooked on an open fire grill that sits at the heart of this atmospheric restaurant. Surrounded by red lanterns to mimic the effect of an open campfire, Amazonico offers guests an authentic rainforest experience. Asiatique will focus on carefully curated, Asian-inspired cuisine with exciting live cooking shows in front of the teppanyaki grill. Fresh Maldivian lobster will be the order of the day at the Beach Club Grill Restaurant, while the resort’s signature Aqua Restaurant will showcase bare-foot luxury at its finest. With a variety of cooking stations, the restaurants’ team of chefs led by Head Chef Aldo Cadu, will be able to bring guests’ culinary dreams to life.

Emerald Maldives offers extensive water sports facilities, with some of the best diving in the region available at the five star Diving Centre. Guests can also obtain their PADI licence here. Spanning 1500 sqm, the resort’s Dolphin Kids Club is one of the largest in the Maldives, and welcomes kids from the age of 3-12 on a complimentary basis. The children’s club even boasts its own zip line that journey’s from one side of the island to the other, which is sure to keep the young ones entertained for hours.

Home to a sumptuous haven of tranquility, Emerald SPA can be found a secluded corner of the private island. The spa offers a range of Bailnese and Thai treatments across 10 air-conditioned treatment rooms, as well as a Turkish bath, sauna and jacuzzi. Elemis treatments are also available for guests seeking a sensory wellness experience with a difference. Situated on one of the quietest parts of the island, the Yoga Pavilion, which offers breath-taking sunrise yoga sessions, is the perfect place to truly switch off. The resort has also been built with sports and fitness lovers in mind, and features two large tennis courts, two paddle courts and an air-conditioned Gym & Sports Centre outfitted with state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. Personal trainers are available to all guests too.

Even among all this luxury, the resort has not neglected the Earth’s best interests, however. With sustainability as a priority, natural stone and bamboo were used for the buildings’ structure and long-lasting Langhi Langhi leaves were used to build the canopies. Solar panels have been installed on every villa to power the entire resort’s hot water and the island is home to a recyclable water irrigation system and composting facility. In a bid to reduce single-use plastic waste, the resort uses paper straws as well as glass bottles.

Another exquisite addition to the distinguished Emerald Collection, Em erald Maldives Resort & SPA is sure to be a favorite among island goers for years to come. For more information, and to book, visit emerald-maldives.com.
