Thomas Maechler is returning to his Zurich roots and will take over the management of the La Réserve Eden au Lac hotel in Zurich.

Thomas Maechler will take over the operational management of the 5-star hotel La Réserve Eden au Lac in Zurich on September 1st. Born in Zurich, he has extensive experience in the hospitality industry. After training at the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and a detour to the prestigious The Peninsula Hong Kong, he moved to New York in 1996; first to the Four Seasons The Pierre and then to the Swissôtel The Drake.

Back in Switzerland, Thomas Maechler initially worked as a consultant at the SGH-Swiss Society for Hotel Credit before becoming General Manager at Beau-Rivage Neuchâtel in June 2004. At the same time, the 51-year-old Swiss hotelier had been a member of the Executive Committee of Relais & Châteaux International in Paris for the past six years. The Cornell University graduate has been on the board of “Swiss Deluxe Hotels” for around ten years.

"We are very pleased that we were able to bring Thomas Maechler, an internationally very experienced director, on board," said Raouf Finan, CEO of Michel Reybier Hospitality. “With his passion, he is the perfect host for our imaginary yacht club designed by Philippe Starck,” Finan continues. Thomas Maechler adds: “I'm looking forward to my new challenge in my home country. Zurich has gained a new, old hotel pearl and with La Réserve a certain “Art de Vivre” is returning to the city. A new meeting point for everyone in Zurich. "

After several months of renovation, the Zurich Hotel Eden au Lac reopened in winter 2019 under the noble brand “La Réserve” by Michel Reybier.
